10bn for 26 selected Town Councils

The Uganda Road Fund (URF) held a one-day meeting with district technocrats including Chief Administrative Officers, Town Clerks and Town Engineers on 18th March 2015 to shall discuss among others the implementation modalities of sealing a 1.0km stretch in the beneficiary town councils of the Town Council project in FY 2014/15. The Town council project is one of the URF Board special projects that was meant to reduce dust as a health related, boost economic development in those Towns and sustainability associated with longevity in maintaining paved roads.

The Road Fund Board under the intervention, approved the allocation of UGX 10bn to 25 Town councils (each to receive UGX 400million) in this financial year 2014/15 to intervene in tarmacking of a small section of the main network.

At the same meeting, Consultants that had been contracted to undertake designs engaged with the technocrats on how to move the project forward.

At the meeting held at the UNRA Public Works Training Centre, Kyambogo, Performance Agreements were also signed with the designated agencies for project funds.
